I’m a huge fan when it comes to Apple products. As a matter of fact, I’m currently writing this article using the amazing Pages application that came with my Macbook’s iWork package.
However, I recently had to get a Windows PC because my work requires me to run a lot of third party applications for different marketing purposes that aren’t necessarily compatible with Mac.
Now, it’s not that I don’t like how windows works, I was just more comfortable with how things work on a Mac and one of the things that I was really missing was Facetime.
I’ve got Facetime on all my devices and not being able to Facetime on my new pc was a bit of a turnoff. However, I did a bit of research and there are a lot of ways by which you can use Facetime on your Windows computer.
But before we get into the nitty gritty, and if you’re new to Facetime and are probably wondering what it is, then here are the things you need to know about Apple’s Video chat Application Facetime.
It allows you to connect with other Facetime users, online, for free and you may use it as you please without paying any charges.
2. The video quality is pretty good but it really comes down to what camera you’re using. If you’re using it on an Apple device then video quality is a given. However, since you’re planning to use it on your Windows computer, make sure you have a good set of webcam and audio input devices to ensure high quality data transmission
3. A good alternative to Facetime would be a Skype but as an avid apple products user, I find it much easier to use this built in application which is light on the processor and provides good quality communication with my friends.
How to Download Facetime on Windows and Mac Computers?
Facetime comes pre-installed on Mac computers, however some mac users complain that they didn’t get it. If you happen to be one of the few unlucky ones then you can easily get it from the App Store for just a dollar.
For Windows users, unfortunately Apple hasn’t released a Facetime version of PC and I think that is definitely a deliberate effort to maintain the exclusivity factor of their products. However, there are a lot of independent developers who claim to have developed a windows-compatible version of Facetime.
But sadly we haven’t found one that works. However there are a lot of alternatives that you can use:
iMovicha : It’s much like Facetime with the added benefit that it works not only on wifi but on 3G/4G networks too.
Tango Video calls : As mentioned in one of our previous tutorials on how to download tango for pc, you can make video calls using Tango, while playing mini games!
Well, that’s pretty much all you can try to download and install facetime on a windows computer.
However, if you’re interested in download Android and iOS devices on your windows PC, we have a lot of tutorials on how you can do the same.
